UTTypeIconFile refers to a icns file in the Resources folder. Each device entry has a 'UTTypeConformsTo', 'UTTypeDescription', 'UTTypeIconFile', 'UTTypeIdentifier' and 'UTTagSpecification', where the 'UTTagSpecification' dictorinary contains an Array in the key '-model-code' with all of the mDNS _device-info._tcp identifiers to accept. I removed all the existing entries in the 'UTExportedTypeDeclarations' key then created a new entry per device. I then opened Contents/ist with XCode Plist Editor and edited all the details to create a custom bundle, changing the Bundle Identifier, Name, etc. Now repeat Tip #1 with this new file and youвЂ™re all set.Seems that I was very close, I just wasn't getting my machine to advertise itself properly.ДЇirst, on the Mac, I created a custom bundle which I called 'ComputerTypes' by copying and pasting an existing bundle such as MobileDevices.bundle or MachineTypes.bundle in the /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Library folder. Select the next thumbnail and resize it to 32Г—32 at 144 DPI, and the third thumbnail to 48Г—48 at 216 DPI. Resize the image to 16Г—16 (which I found to be working nicely) and set its resolution to 72, if it isnвЂ™t already. Select the first and select Tools -> Adjust SizeвЂ¦ in the menu bar. Open that file in Preview.app and youвЂ™ll notice all three icons inside that one TIFF (you might have to select View вЂ“ Thumbnails in the menu to show them) Then it writes the NSImage objectвЂ™s TIFFRepresentation to disk.

To create the TIFF, I wrote a small app that takes my icon file, creates three NSBitmapImageRep objects from it and adds them to an NSImage instance. The trick is to have a TIFF file with 2 (or 3, to be on the safe side) representations вЂ“ one at 1x, one at 2x and one at 3x. I thought IвЂ™d be smart about it, since the вЂњappend вЂTemplateвЂ™ вЂњ trick worked, IвЂ™d have three differently sized images and append and But it didnвЂ™t work. But thereвЂ™s another issue we need to take care of: Look for NSIconName and change вЂworkflowCustomImageвЂ™ to вЂworkflowCustomImageTemplateвЂ™. Now, navigate into Contents and open ist. Rename it to вЂworkflowCustomImageTemplate.pngвЂ™. There, right-click your Quick Action, select вЂShow Package ContentsвЂ™, and navigate into Resources, where your icon file will be. To fix this, add a custom icon to your Quick Action in Automator, save, switch to Finder and navigate to /Users/yourname/Library/Services/, where your newly saved Quick Action will end up. So no matter what you name your file, it wonвЂ™t matter. When you add a custom icon through Automator, it automatically gets renamed into вЂworkflowCustomImage.pngвЂ™. The trick is to have the file end in вЂTemplateвЂ™, like вЂMyWorkflowIconTemplate.tiffвЂ™.
